Micaela Gibson is a young adult cancer survivor from Oregon, USA. Diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in May 2021, Micaela has used her experience to change her career path to healthcare.
This is Micaela's story...
Micaela Gibson was finishing up her degree in music therapy when she started noticing some odd symptoms, such as a lump on her chest, unintentional weight loss, and drenching night sweats. Despite the pandemic, her parents encouraged her to get checked out, and it was discovered she had Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"My healing process from this cancer journey should not have a timeline, especially not a timeline dictated by anyone who has not been through the same experience."

She underwent chemotherapy and was declared in remission. This experience led her to realize she wasn't interested in music therapy anymore and decided to pursue a career in healthcare. She was thankful for the great nurses she had while undergoing treatment and is now looking forward to her new life.
